Thanks for visiting JFO Aviation! My name is John McDermott. I am a commercial pilot and professional flight instructor. With thousands of hours of flight time and dual flight instruction given, I am excited to share my love of aviation with you. A Very Brief History of My Career
My aviation journey has taken me across the country. From my hometown of Chicago to the Miami area, I have trained in a variety of landscapes and airspaces. From there, I moved upstate to Inverness, FL before continuing back northward to Central Pennsylvania. If you are reading this, my instructing work is on pause as I pursue airline training at a US regional carrier, but I am excited to continue teaching as I transition into line flying in early 2026.
